Executive Management Team

Thomas Sutter, CEO

Having always been professionally involved in developing "cutting edge" OSS solutions for telecom networks, Thomas is responsible for overseeing management of the entire company.

Prior to joining Nexus, Thomas was CEO of P-Net AG, a privately held solution integrator for service management solutions operating in the Swiss market. He has also worked in a number of different departments for Siemens AG, including Software Department Leader, Business Program Manager for Service Management in Carrier Sales, Business Manager for OSS solutions in the Swiss market and Leader of the International Center of Competence for Service.

Thomas holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Swiss University of Applied Science, Aargau, and an M.B.A. from the International Institute of Management in Telecommunication at the Swiss University of Fribourg. Thomas enjoys eating fine food with his wife and friends when he isn’t playing the trumpet for the Olten Swing Society Big Band.

Christoph Kupper, Executive VP Marketing

Christoph is responsible for strategic corporate direction and product positioning at Nexus. His long history in test and surveillance solutions for mobile networks based on GSM and CDMA technology and on IN-based service solutions for the fixed and mobile network — where time to market and ease-of-use were key — has rendered him expert at tailoring telecommunication solutions that meet customer requirements under sharp time constraints.

Christoph also gained specialized knowledge of the 3G Mobile Network environments while working for Nokia Switzerland. As Network Planning Manager for Nokia, Christoph was responsible for 3G tendering work for the 3G licensed Mobile Network Operators in Switzerland, as well as for supporting the 2.5G network rollout within Switzerland.

Christoph holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich and an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen.

Ernst Schmid, VP Central Services

Ernst is responsible for all company internal services like Finance, HR, Administration, IT, Facility, Contract Management, Purchasing, Customer Order Management and Logistics as well as Quality Management.

Working for more than 25 years in the Telecom industry - most of that time with Alcatel Switzerland - he has gained wide experience in all business processes of providing telecom test solutions to the market. Starting as a hardware development engineer after his studies, he took over different responsibilities as project leader, engineering department manager, product manager, marketing manager and leader of a profit center.

Ernst holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Swiss University of Applied Science, Winterthur.

René Bodmer, VP Sales

René is responsible for worldwide sales at Nexus, for which he brings extensive senior managerial experience in direct sales and channel organizations.

Prior to joining Nexus, René was Managing Director of a leadership team at Critical Path, an international messaging solutions telecommunications company, where he was responsible for significantly, and successfully, growing and repositioning the company in the Central European telecommunications market. René was a previous BU Manager for Lucent Technologies and later became Managing Director and part of the DACH leadership team for Avaya, its spin-off. As a founding member of the "CRM Forum" - a unique platform for users, vendors and consultancy companies founded in 1996 - and as a member of its advisory board from 1998 until 2006, René is well-known for focusing business decisions around the customer's needs.

An original Zuricher, René is married with three children and enjoys sailing with his family in his free time.

Martin Bächtold, VP Engineering

With a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Martin is responsible for all research and development at Nexus Telecom.

Martin has an extensive background in driving the development of complex technical software solutions, particularly for Telecom OSS, for electronic design automation tools of Very Large Scale Integrated Circuits (VLSI) and for CAD tools for micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS). In addition to his considerable technical know-how, Martin has a good deal of experience in business and management: As founder and Chief Scientist of Coyote Systems Inc. in San Francisco, he led R&D until the company’s acquisition by Massachusetts-based Coventor Inc. in 2000, after which he held key positions for Coventor, steering technical strategy and architectural design while managing development.

Apart from his fascination with all things technology-related in general and computers in particular, Martin’s personal interests include amateur astronomy, advances in biotech and SciFi in any media format. Martin enjoys spending his free time with his family.

Erwin Estermann, Director Product Management

After earning his Ph.D. in Psychology and Logic from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Zürich, Erwin began his career in the IT and Telecom industry at a time when formal accreditations in the field did not yet exist. He has held numerous management positions with IT service and manufacturing companies, including Cap Gemini, Digital, Unisys, Deutsche Telekom and Telekom Austria, and he has extensive experience managing large projects for leading customers such as UBS and T-Mobile. Currently responsible for Product Management of the network monitoring business unit at Nexus, Erwin excels at assessing customer requirements and seeing projects through to completion.

With his wife leading social work projects in the City of Zürich and his two daughters studying medicine and informatics, respectively, Erwin enjoys lively dinner conversation at home, which he credits for keeping him on his toes.

Lukas Hebeisen, Director Deployment & Delivery

Lukas is responsible for technical pre-sales support, project implementation and operations support in the network monitoring business unit at Nexus. Prior to assuming his role as Director, Deployment & Delivery, Lukas held the positions of Project Manager and Operations Manager, leading an international team of installation engineers.

Having led numerous projects in Europe, Asia and America, with both wireless and wire line operators, Lukas has several years experience in project management of OSS solutions in telecom networks worldwide. Lukas developed a detailed knowledge of various network architectures (GSM, GPRS, UMTS) in this time, as well as a great appreciation for what his customers require. He is most adept at applying his knowledge to customer advantage.

Lukas holds a B.Sc. in Telecommunication from the Swiss University of Applied Science, Chur, and enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking and spending time with his friends in his free time.

Roland Reichlin, Director BU Load & Stress Test Systems

Roland is responsible for the management of Nexus Telecom's Test System Business Unit. Prior to undertaking his role as Director of the Test Systems group, Roland held the position of Engineering Manager for the Test System Developers, which involved the leading and coordinating of four teams of software engineers to drive forward the development of the Nexus8610 and Nexus8620 products.

By working in close cooperation with leading network manufactures, Roland is defining the test tools for tomorrow’s networks and services. With 8 years of history in telecom testing covering all technologies alongside various telecom manufactures/operators across the globe, Roland’s experience enables him to find the right solutions for Nexus Telecom customers.

Roland holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Swiss University of Applied Science, Winterthur.

Gino Barille, Director BU Performance Management

Gino is responsible for the management of Nexus Telecom's Performance Management Business Unit. Previous roles at Nexus include R&D Manager, Product/Project Manager and Senior SW Developer in the areas of Security, Fault and Performance Management, as well as Business System Solutions. Gino has worked with Nexus since its inception and has nearly 20 years of experience in the definition, design, development and deployment of network-intelligent software systems.

Gino holds an M.Sc. in Decision Sciences and a B.Sc. in Mathematics/Information Systems from Gerogia State University, and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina. Spare time is focused on his family and the preservation of good health.

Rod Paterson, Managing Director
Nexus Telecom (Americas) Inc.

Rod is responsible for Nexus Telecom's business in North America. His telecommunications experience in leadership roles at Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq Computer Corporation and Mitel Networks, to name a few, enables Rod to lead our North American operation in a way that ensures excellent service to our North American clients. Rod has been involved in providing OSS and BSS Solutions to major Telecom Carriers since 1994.

The fast growth of our North American business is a direct result of Rod's --Customers Above All Else-- attitude and operating style.
