Customer Support Engineer - Zurich
As a Customer Support Engineer you will be working in a highly motivated team supporting our customers worldwide with their GSM/GPRS/UMTS/NGN network monitoring solution. High demands must be met by the system with regard to reliability, availability and performance.
Job Responsibilities
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
- The focus of your duty will be to assist customers with solving operational issues on server platform and DCN
- Analysis of issues, reported by the customer
- System configuration and troubleshooting any kind of issue, reported by the customer
- Surveillance of system platforms (servers, DCN, Operating System) on a routine basis for possible malfunctions
- Analysis of signaling networks (SS7, GPRS, UMTS) with the customer for verifying correct system behavior
- Installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of software applications
- Reformatting and reinstalling OS and applications on existing servers as needed
- Deployment of new servers as needed
- Training of system users on application functionality
- Assistance with special projects and applications as needed
- Updating the TroubleTicketing system and creation of entries in the technical logging system
- Availability for "Pikett"-service on a weekly (rotating) basis
Required Skills and Experience
- You have several years of experience with Unix/Linux
- You have a good understanding of telecommunications networks, especially TCP/IP Network Protocols and signaling networks like SS7
- You are familiar with modern software engineering methods and you possess excellent analytical skills
- You yourself estimate teamwork and a professional way of communication
- You are direct, appreciate people to be direct with you and you can express yourself in a crisp manner
- You are a resilient, customer-orientated personality and a good team player with strong communication skills
- You work independently and show initiative
- Apart from German, it goes without saying that you are fluent in written and spoken English
